Kupe and Captain Cook Early Nz Exploration

Kupe and Captian cook are 2 important exlorers in New Zealand history.

Captain James cook found Aotearoa by following the birds and Captian James Cook came to NZ in the 1789 and he was born in Marton in Cleveland, Yorkshire, England, on October 27, 1728 and when cook saild in 1768 on his first voyage of discover aboard endeavour he held the rank of lieutenant.

Kupe arrived in nz in the 1100's. He travelled by tradtianal sail boat. Myth has it he followed a giant octapus. He did this voyage to find new lands for his people to live. His wife named Nz Aotearoa after seeing mountians under the clouds.

Kupe is important because he was the first document person in NZ and kupe set out in his canoe to kill the octopus.

Cook is important because he mapped NZ and opened it up to the world to access and when he got killed his age was 50 year old and captain cook was killed at Kealakekua Bay, Hawaii.
